 Planning and Development Department 

After all possible delays, in the year 1944, the Government constituted the Planning and Development Department under the leadership of a member of the Viceroy's Executive Council, so that the organization and coordination of planning works in the country was done. 

 Can go  Ardeshir Dalal (Controller of Bombay Plan) was appointed its executive member and 20 panels of experts were constituted.  

Central departments, provinces and Indian sociologists were invited to prepare detailed plans for industrialization.  This department was closed in the year 1946.
