Indian land is situated in the middle of east and west of the continent of Asia. Indian territory is the southern extension of the continent of Asia. The Indian Ocean joins European countries and East Asian countries in the west and provides India with a central position.
India is the only country in the world, after which an ocean (Indian Ocean) is named. The main reason for this is that no other country in Asia has such an important location as India in the Indian Ocean.
Thus it shows the important position of India in South Asia. Its vastness has given it the name of subcontinent. India is situated on the top of the Indian Ocean due to its peninsular shape.
It facilitates India to establish relations with European countries, South-West Asia and Africa from the west coast, and Asian countries and Australia from the east coast.
